New food and drink places to try in 2019

For January’s Now Then magazine feature my focus is on new places to try for food and drink in Sheffield.

I’ve put together a selection of some new openings in 2018 and mentioned those coming soon. These include the Scandi inspired cafe Krydda, which will be opening on Abbeydale Road and Ambulo, the new cafe concept coming soon to Weston Park museum and the Millennium Gallery.

Here’s an extract of the piece, read the article in full via the Now Then magazine app.

To kick off 2019, we want to showcase a selection of recent openings in Sheffield and mention  others coming up. Some you of which you may or may not have on your New Year list to try. So, if you want the lowdown on new places to eat and drink out,  read on for inspiration.

Barrowboy opened in summer 2018 and it’s the place to get your fix of steamed bao buns and watch the world go by. They started off at Peddlers market and now have their permanent home at 453 Abbeydale Road. Their menu offers enticing options from vegan fillings of jerk jackfruit, pork belly bao and Hiyoko chicken. They have regular live music nights and we’ve heard the cocktails are well worth a try too.

To get a taste of Swedish cuisine, check out Krydda, they are new to Abbeydale Road (opening date tbc…) and will be a hangout where you can enjoy smorgasbord open sandwiches, home-made pastries and other Scandi-inspired dishes…
