Enjoying and making the most of fish and seafood
Fish and seafood are the topic for my August Now Then magazine article, in this piece I have focused on where to go for your fish in Sheffield, how you can enlist the help of your fishmonger to prepare fish and where to go, if you want to eat out.
In the article, I share top tips on how to spot fresh fish from the look to the smell, and I suggest that we all take a step out of our comfort zone and try something other than salmon, cod and prawns. Ask your fishmonger what is in season or what they would suggest trying, they will be able to give you cooking tips so you can get the best from the dishes you make.
There are a few restaurants in Sheffield dedicated to showcasing the best of the seasons and Butcher & Catch at Broomhill is one such example. They regularly change their menu depending on the catch and time of the year, on the summer menu you can enjoy this beautifully vibrant seafood paella.
I could not miss out mentioning the classic British dish of fish and chips. Hopefully one of your favourite plaves was on the list which included Ranmoor Fiery to New Cod on the Block on Commonside, amongst others.
